#168 oct 2017 The City that Never Sleeps!

Our next stop was Las Vegas – the city that never sleeps! The energy on the Strip is palpable. It can be overwhelming but we enjoy it for a few hours day or night.

Our hotel was half a block from Freemont Street – the original Vegas strip.

The “Freemont Street Experience” is worth watching as people fly over the strip and under the illuminated, entertainment canopy.

We were there just before Halloween.

Notice the harnessed people at the top of the photo.

And away they go!

Our 10thfloor hotel room provided a view of the “normal city” side of Las Vegas. The mountains and desert give background and perspective.

Planet Hollywood features several types of shows. We thoroughly enjoyed The Variety Show featuring jugglers, comedians, hypnotists, acrobats, etc.

Day or night The Strip is worth walking and watching.

The Stratosphere dominates the north end of The Strip.

We went to the top of The Stratosphere just before dusk to enjoy the changing views as the sun went down.

Nothing looks big from 1,150 feet (350 m). The Strip is in the centre of this photo running from top to bottom.

The top of the tower is still a long way above the viewing platform.

The city sprawls towards the mountains.

As the sun goes down the helicopter tours circle.

And the lights come on.

The top of the tower illuminates along with the rides.

The name says it all!

And yes they do scream on the X-Scream!

We don’t gamble and didn’t even put a dollar in the machines. There is lots to see and do and people watch. Fun city!

  1. Vegas has lost its pizzaz for Al & me. Although, Freemont Street still has some cachet, if you can turn your eyes away from those daring to do the topless thing. Your pictures, Linda, are as fabulous as usual.
